Our goal for TRANSFORM is to give you all the necessary tips and tricks to not only more your body but nourish it too to create a happier and healthier you!
In phase 1 of level 2 we want to establish positive habits that limit added sugar in your diet.
Did you know that the majority of sugar we eat comes from processed food? Who knew!
The best way to curb any added sugar in your diet is to eat a variety of fruit and veggies and other whole foods and overall minimise the amount of processed foods you eat.
Processed foods provide empty calories and small energy spurts that leave you crashing and feeling tired and lethargic.
Now we’re all human and we all love a little sugary snack but to get the most out of TRANSFORM we suggest avoiding the following:
  • Chocolate coated muesli bars and biscuits.
  • Lollies, chocolate, and confectionery.
  • Sauces like tomato, BBQ, and sweet chilli.
  • Spreads like jam, honey, or chocolate hazelnut.
  • Sugar sweetened drinks like cola, iced tea/ coffee, and lemonade.
  • Energy drinks like Red Bull, Monster, or Mother.
  • Juices made mainly with fruit.
  • Heavily sweetened yoghurt and cereals.
Rest assured, it is okay to have a small amount of added sugar whether that be adding a teaspoon of honey to natural yoghurt, a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup in a dressing or marmalade, or when sugar only makes up a small percentage of the product. For example there is sugar in Weetbix but 97% of the product is whole grain wheat, so this is okay.
Simple enough right?
But what do you do when your sugar craving gets a bit too much?
HYDRATE!
Our first tip is to assess whether you are actually hungry or thirsty and respond to this.
For more tips and tricks to keep your water intake up everyday check out our blog post Hydration Tips! https://fitazfk.com/blogs/home/hydration-tips
TRY AND DISTRACT YOURSELF!
Sometimes just by going for a small walk or reading a book you can distract yourself and the craving will naturally go away.
HAVE SOME FRUIT!
Grab your favourite fruit and snack on this to get the natural sweetness while also getting all the health benefits.
TEA ANYONE?
Naturally sweet herbal teas like hibiscus, licorice, or chamomile are a great option to curb those sugar cravings.
We know it’s hard to cut out something that just tastes so good - but doing so will not only help your body in the long run but also make you FEEL GOOD!
